Tall tales are stories with exaggerated events and with unbelievable elements.
Characteristics of a tall tale
- Combine fact and fiction
- hyperbole
-life is tough
- heroes are brave, buff and brainy
- heroes are also hardworking and never give up

Theme: Story Elements

  1. Title: Name of a book, article or  story
  2. Author: who writes the story
  3. Illustrator: who drew the pictures. He provides a visual representation for a text.
  4. Setting: Where and when is the story set? includes the date, time and place
  5. Character: A person or animal or really anything personified. There can be one main character or many, and often there are secondary characters, but not always (Protagonist/Hero)(Antagonis/villain)
  6. Character traits: (qualities) or characteristics
  7. PlotThe (events) that happen in a story are called the plot. In a plot you typically find an introduction, rising action, a climax, the falling action, and a resolution
  8. climax: its the point of highest tension and drama, or it is the time when the action starts during which the solution is given. One large event that changes the outcome of the entire story
  9. Conflict: (Problem). Every story must have a conflict, i.e. a challenge or problem around which the story is based. Without conflict, the story will have no purpose or trajectory.
  10. Resolution: (Problem solved)  is the part of the story's plot where the main problem is resolved or worked out. The resolution occurs after the falling action and is typically where the story ends.
  11. Main idea/Theme: (what is the story about)  Idea, belief, moral, lesson or insight. It’s the central argument that the author is trying to make the reader understand. The theme is the “why” of the story.
  12. Point-of-view: Who” is telling the story? First-person (“I”) or third person (“he/she/it”). Limited (one character’s perspective), multiple (many characters’ perspectives) or omniscient (all-knowing narrator). Second person (“you”) is not often used for writing stories.
  13. Tone: The overall emotional “tone” or meaning of the story. Is it happy, funny, sad, depressed? Tone can be portrayed in multiple ways, through word and grammar choices, choice of theme, imagery and description, symbolism, and the sounds of the words in combination (i.e. rhyme, rhythm, musicality).
  14. Style: This is how things are said. Word choices, sentence structure, dialogue, metaphor, simile, hyperbole. Style contributes significantly to tone.
  15. end: the final part
